30-page critique paper and phone call with editor Jennifer Pooley

Former HarperCollins editor Jennifer Pooley, now an independent book editor, will read 30 double-spaced pages of your work (literary fiction, women’s fiction, memoir, NA, or YA) and speak with you for one hour on the phone about your pages and/or answer your general questions about publishing and approaching the literary marketplace. Jennifer will share an optional questionnaire that she has her freelance clients work on that you can choose to fill out and return to her for discussion before the call.

Jennifer Pooley has been a freelance book editor in Los Angeles for the past eight years and previously spent twelve years with HarperCollins Publishers in New York City where she was a Senior Editor acquiring for William Morrow and Harper Perennial. Books that she acquired and published include: Willy Vlautin’s THE MOTEL LIFE, NORTHLINE, and LEAN ON PETE; Marjorie Hart’s SUMMER AT TIFFANY; Daniel James Brown’s THE INDIFFERENT STARS ABOVE; Jennifer Sey’s CHALKED UP and Michael Zadoorian’s THE LEISURE SEEKER. As a freelance editor specializing in literary development she has worked with such debut talent as Stephanie Clifford on EVERYBODY RISE, Janie Chang on THREE SOULS, and Mindy Tarquini on HINDSIGHT.
